The volunteers of "photon club" visited the village Maranjana and showed hygiene habits . The villages used to throw plastics , wastes nearby. We showed them way of collecting and using the waste and make fertilizers from them. We also discussed the importance of hygiene for childrens. The people were supportive . We also collected some data about their problems in society and the most common diseases. It was found that skin diseases were the most common. Further observations were made using the data collected. (*Some of the members were in background. *collaborated with Jorhat Engineering College ,Jorhat)

Tuesdays

10:00 am

After going a step forward, we noticed that there were a industry of plastics . Its been 2 years and the villagers were affected by skin problems and breathing problems. We gave some herbal pastes solution to the villagers( neem, turmeric paste). We also gave an application to the gaon burha(govt. of assam ) informing the matter officially. (* Due to some official issue we couldnot upload the signed application here.) *Some of the members were in background. *collaborated with Jorhat Engineering College ,Jorhat)

Saturdays

11:30 am

After collecting the data about the local villagers, we found that they are unaware of hygiene of household waste and sanitation. After collecting the data about the local villagers, we found that they are unaware of hygiene of household waste and sanitation. We decided to demonstrate them the proper way of sorting plastics and bio degradable wastes from the household waste and use them in a proper manner. We ,students made dustbins of two separate purpose. One for plastics and other for Bio-degradable wastes. We showed them how to make and how to separate them and use. We distributed some of the dustbins made by our team. (*Some of the members were in background. *collaborated with Jorhat Engineering College ,Jorhat) .

Saturdays

11:30 am

We noticed that apart from individual houses the streets also needs to be clean. We tried to make a better approach by doing the following. We grouped children and guided them to make dustbins from bamboo. As they were local people and had minimum resources , we also made dustbins that can be made using Bamboo and used in local streets. So that the streets also stay clean. We distributed some of the dustbins made by our team. (*Some of the members were in background. *collaborated with Jorhat Engineering College ,Jorhat)

Saturdays

The villagers were so supportive .They were too kind also. As we are engineering students we wanted to do something for the villagers. Initial data suggested that at least one among 3 people in a family were farmer . Most of the families were directly depends on farming. As they were in a village which is approx 50-55 km from main town. It would be better if they use local resources to enrich the vegetables and plants they grow. Our team came up with an idea of making A Bio_fertilizer machine that can be used by the farmers to produce healthy food. It was a plastic drum. We installed L-shaped flaps of Tin inside it and cut out a small window. They just need to put grass, bio wastes, soil and some water inside it and rotate it with a rope. The Tin flaps cuts the materials inside it and if this stays inside it for few days it will decompose. They can directly use them or even use this to make more decomposed fertilizers using regular techniques. We demonstrated them and taught the procedure to make it at home. We hope that the people finds it beneficial . (*Some of the members were in background. *collaborated with Jorhat Engineering College ,Jorhat)
